Our History
Rooted in the Land, Shaped by Community
Minnedosa, meaning “flowing water” in Dakota Sioux, is nestled in the heart of the Little Saskatchewan River Valley. Long before settlers arrived, this area was a traditional gathering place for the Dakota and Ojibwe Nations, drawn by its fertile land and steady river. In the late 1800s, settlers from Eastern Canada and Europe made Minnedosa their home, turning it into a lively pioneer community.

Supporting Growth, Opportunity, and Community Connection
Minnedosa CDC/Tourism works to support the long-term growth and vitality of our community. As a Community Development Corporation, the organization focuses on strengthening the local economy by encouraging investment, supporting entrepreneurs, and helping local businesses grow.
Tourism is an important part of that work. Promoting Minnedosa as a destination helps bring visitors to local shops, restaurants, attractions, and recreation spaces, supporting jobs and services throughout the community.
By working closely with the Town, businesses, organizations, and residents, Minnedosa CDC/Tourism helps build partnerships, support local initiatives, and share Minnedosa’s story—creating a community that is welcoming, resilient, and ready for the future.
